Pilot program - intensive event management training for regional event committees

Intensive event management training.jpg

Our new 7-week Intensive Foundation Program for Events provides all the modules of our Foundation Program neatly arranged within a 7-week focused online course.

The Foundation Program is a robust event management training program that supports event committees with the knowledge, tools, and resources to help them deliver a high-quality, efficient and sustainable event.

Built on a framework of ‘Ten Key Steps to Successful & Sustainable Event Management’ the rEVENTS Academy Foundation program can be undertaken in one of two ways:

  1. As a virtual assistant over 10 months alongside the natural planning of an event (self-paced learning)

  2. Intensive 7-week guided coaching

What they hope to achieve

Event organisers mentioned a range of reasons why they wanted to be part of the pilot program:

“This will be invaluable to provide me the skills to really elevate the festival as a showpiece for the community and the broader region. In particular I would like to learn how better to get community involvement and volunteers as well as funding opportunities.” - Ruth Ernest, Eden Whale Festival

“Many of our events have been running for a number of years now and need reinvigorating with new ideas to keep fresh and sustainable for years to come. We would like to see our events grow in number and attract more visitors and in turn attract investment to the Lockhart Shire.

I would like our participant to walk away knowing that they have upskilled their existing capabilities to run events, feel more confident, and enjoy what they do.” - Matt Holt, Lockyer Valley Regional Council

“This sounds like a wonderful opportunity! To be honest I am completely hopeless when it comes to marketing and thinking outside the square for event organising. I've never had any training in this area and was just thrown in the deep in when I was successful gaining my position as secretary at the Lockyer Valley Turf Club. I absolutely love my job and love the club but feel I let them down in these areas and believe a course like this would be an amazing learning experience. I still feel like I'm a complete beginner even after 3 years!” - Tannyth Shackell, Gatton Cup

“I am thirsty for knowledge on how to effectively plan, market, prepare and host our 3 part event. Effective governance, strategy, funding, community inclusiveness, marketing, preparation, delivery and post assessment are all elements that I would love to learn more about. Networking with others who are a similar situation, or have delivered events similar to ours will be incredibly valuable.” - Melinda Thorburn, Mundubbera Bluesberry Festival

We are looking forward to helping each event organiser improve their event management skills in a flexible online learning environment, while learning alongside other regional and rural event organisers and committee members.

The next 7-week intensive will commence in May, with registration opening in March.
