Case Study: Cairns Tropical Pride Festival, QLD

Planning an Event successfully.jpg

INTERVIEW WITH FESTIVAL DIRECTOR DESTINY PRIDE

Only two years ago Cairns Tropical Pride Festival was a classic example of an event that was limiting its success due to the team structure and dynamics. It took strong leadership and a group of dedicated and like-minded people to turn this event around.

A fresh committee, new systems, tight processes and a framework that engages and supports the community has allowed the festival to turn around visitor satisfaction levels and refresh itself as a leading regional LGBT festival.

Testimonial

When our Council asked our committee to be part of the rEVENTS Academy program, I was a little skeptical thinking we know what we are doing but accepted their offer. How wrong I was! While we had a successful event, the things Linda spoke about and took us through made us realize we were not only missing out on opportunity but lacking real direction for the event’s long term future.
